Want a year to focus on Christian living with a community of other volunteers who are committed to eating and praying together while completing a year of full time service in the DC or Cleveland area? The Cap Corps is a Franciscan- centered program offering young men and women the opportunity to work in direct service with the poor while living a simple lifestyle in community with other volunteers. Community living includes prayer, meals together, recreation, and sharing in household chores. A significant amount of our charism is instilled by the presence of, and interaction with the Capuchin Franciscan Friars. The spirit and spirituality of St. Francis of Assisi are central to the experience. Cap Corps volunteers are eligible for the Americorps education award. Volunteers receive a small monthly stipend, room and board, and health insurance. Program runs August 2009- July 2010. Volunteers commit to upholding the Cap Corps tenants based on Franciscan tradition and values: • Spirituality • Community • Service • Simplicity • Justice For more information and to apply: www.capuchin.com.
